The Schrade Extreme Survival Serrated M-9 Bayonet is just what it sounds like, a large bayonet survival knife from Schrade‘s SCHF Extreme Survival Knife series.

This particular model is made of 1070 High Carbon Steel with a heavy polymer resin handle and scabbard. The blade on this sucker is 8″ long. Add that to the 5″ handle and you have a very large knife. At 13.2 ounces this is a well balanced blade. This knife has a combo edge and I don’t really mind the combo edge all that much because the blade is so dang big.

The knife is designed to attach on the end of an AR-15 or shotgun, which makes for a cool looking weapon. If you choose to simply carry the knife in the sheath I think you will be happy with that as well because the sheath is of a polymer construction (vs. all nylon) and has a built in sharpening stone on the back of it. Additionally there is a detachable nylon pouch on the front of the sheath/scabbard and you can put additional supplies in there. It will attach to your belt or pack in a variety of ways. It’s a pretty nice sheath.

All in all this is an interesting offering from Schrade. For those looking for a decent bayonet this is certainly one to consider.

US Military Specification 550 Paracord Special Forces Survival Wristband.

Parachute cord (also Paracord or 550 cord) is a lightweight nylon kermantle rope originally used in the suspension lines of US Parachutes during World War II. Once in the field, paratroopers found this cord useful for many other tasks. It is now used as a general purpose utility cord by military personnel, Special Forces and civilians. This versatile cord was even used by astronauts during STS-82, the second Space Shuttle mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope.

The braided sheath has a high number of interwoven strands for its size, giving it a relatively smooth texture. The all-nylon construction makes Paracord fairly elastic. These wristbands conform to the US Military Specification MIL-C-5040H Type III

A befits the history and tradition of the 3rd Regiment of Foot Guards, the Scots Guards Pipers wear a distinctive dirk. This is a style somewhere between the Piper's Dirk worn by the Pipers of The Royal Regiment of Scotland and those more elaborate dirks worn by their Officers.

This pattern is not regulated but worn by custom. The grip, hand carved in ebony in the traditional 'Thistle' shape, hatched and decorated with nickel silver studs. It has a forward leaning pommel on to which the regimental badge is fitted.

The blade is polished steel and the scabbard covered in patent leather has plain nickel silver top and knife and fork mounts.

The knife and fork, held to the scabbard by nickel silver chain have their grips carved and hatched and ornamented with nickel silver studs and the pommel decorated with a miniature regimental badge.
