Serial Number:104517 British WW2 Genuine Rare Wilkinson Sword General Officers
The distinctively curved blade of the General Officer’s Sword is double-edged for the last 12 inches of its length and is finely etched. The guard is made of gold plated brass, as are the ornamental mounts on the ivory-style Mameluke hilt.
The scabbard is nickel-plated steel with two loose rings on cruciform bands and a square shoe.An exceptionally rare Wilkinson made British general's mameluke sabre, current monarch ERII so suitable for a serving general in the British Army, in pristine condition
I absolutely guarantee this is an authentic Wilkinson Sword ERII British general's mameluke, complete with sword knot . ; this sabre was once the property of General Staff Officer in the Coldstream Guards. The sword is in near new condition and is 100% suitable for official dress wear by a serving general.
I really do not expect to ever come across another on the market; truly, this is a one off and now Wilkinson Sword (the sword people) are no more, buy it while you can as you are never likely to get the chance at one of these ever again.
The 31 1/2 inch blade is finely etched and in good condition. The ivorine grip is in very good order and the small studs all present; the gilt finish is still fine and bright. The blade is firm in the hilt and sheathes / draws very well as you would expect. The steel scabbard has some scuffs and scratches due to being on and off display rack. The blade has a blank panel so an inscription could be made to it. I paid a lot for it and am glad I bought it, so the price I offer of £1250 is very good indeed
